Every limitation we know about, field by field. These are the same notes shown on each layer inside the atlas, published here so you can check them before deciding whether an indicator supports the claim you want to make.

Area-proportional estimate for districts created after 2011.
Area (km²)
Measured from the current district boundary, not the 2011 boundary.
Literacy rate
Counts population aged 7 and above only, per Census convention.
Sex ratio
Females per 1,000 males. National average is close to 940.
Male / female population
Area-proportional estimate for districts created after 2011.
SC / ST population
Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe lists vary by state — not every community is recognized nationwide.
Male / female workers
Includes both main and marginal workers.
Male / female literate
Counts population aged 7 and above only.
Households
Area-proportional estimate for districts created after 2011.
Electricity, tap water, latrine, internet, clean fuel access
Shown as unavailable, not zero, where no resolvable predecessor exists to inherit from.
Missing is never zero.Where a source has no figure for a district, that district renders as no-data rather than as a zero value. If a map looks patchy, that's coverage being shown honestly, not a rendering fault.
